Location
Kranevo is a village in Dobrich region, Balchik municipality, which is situated 24 km northeast of Varna and 42 km southeast of Dobrich. Until 1942 the village is known as Ekrene. It’s a sea resort with local importance with a population about 700 habitants. There are bus lines to Balchik, Kavarna, Dobrich and Varna.
Kranevo is located near the Black sea and it’s at a height of 20m, from south and southwest to Kranevo, reach the north-eastern road forks of the plateau Frangen. Along the village, there is a river.
History
South of the village, there are remains of a Roman fortress and fortifications to protect the eastern border of the First Bulgarian Empire. After the Balkan War and the Peace treaty of Bucharest in 1913, the village is in Romania, but in1940 it was returned to the territory of Bulgaria.
Tourism
Because of its location near the sea, the village is also a sea resort and it is known as a resort with school facilities and camps. Here the beach is with superb light sand and the slope of the seabed is smooth. The combination of spring mineral water, fresh air and marvelous beach, makes Kranevo an attractive place for tourists, looking for silence and quiet holiday and with more limited budget.
